Yours of the 23'd came duly to hand Contents Noted_
The bearer Col A H Seeley of the 5th Ills Cav. will be here for some little time after his return from Your City._ I would suggest that Col Seeley or some other disinterested person in whom his Excellency has confidence be appointed to investigate the conduct of the 62'd Regt complained of in my former letter. - Our community ask an investigation by some unprejudiced party and with the report will be satisfied - otherwise our people will feel themselves outraged by those whom they have befriended and are willing always to support.

Seely of 6th Ills Cav'ly_ and requests that he or some other disinterested person of the Govr's choice be app'ted to investigate the Conduct of the 62'd Regt. while passing through there a few weeks since His people demand an investigation & will be satisfied with the report __ Otherwise they feel themselves grossly outraged by those whom they are ever willing to befriend & support
