His Excelency Richard Yates
Sir having just seen in the Chicago Tribune of yesterday a proposition from the War department that a corps of [western?] troops who had served two years would be axcepted by the government for one year to be organized in December and to be [past?] under large of Mad Genl Hancok, I now write to again ask of you who has already favoured me so mutch to try and get for me a place in this [counsel?] I can get the men, with your assistance for a Regt or a Brigade & I [have?] the concurrence of Genl Oglesby our newly Elected governor who is now at Springfield, will you be so kind as to write me on [request?] of this and if necessary will come down
