This affiant first having been duly sworn deposeth and saeth that he is acquainted with James Nonen that he has known him for thirty five years past in Ireland and in America. Affiant knows his age from having seen an entry of it in his mothers family Bible from which it appears that said Nonen was born in 1816 The Father of affiant who was a widower married the Mother of said Nonen then a widow, and affiant in this way had an opportunity of ascertaining his age Affiant was eleven years of age when he first became acquainted with said Nonan and has always been satisfied from his appearance as well as from the said entry, that Nonan was older than affiant who is now forty-six years of age Said Nonan has been residing in Whiteside County about nine years past and for about two years past in the Township where he was drafted in said County of Whiteside Illinois and is now at Camp Butler Illinois and should be discharged as he is not subject to be drafted under the Law. And the said Nonan says he did not know his name was enrolled until after he had been drafted
