                     Dr Sir:

                        This will be handed to you by my old friend Gov Richard Yates  The gov may wish to know somewhat of the Condition of this aforetime aquaintance; now so nearly 'solitary & alone', but time & his mutations are wonderful & I have proved no exception to the rule - as true certainly in politics as in any thing else, that we must either bend & sway to & fro or Catch no genial breezes; from the popular purveyors; I trust you will give the gov all the insight into affairs in this section of our state

that you possibly can; for he will I suppose be naturally a little anxious to hear about how many votes he can count upon from this region & as you have quite an extended aquaintance in that direction you may speak words of comfort to him;
