Gov Yates
Dear Sir
Yours of the 11th inst is received. In answer to your letter I desire to say that I believe I recognize and fully appreciate the services you have rendered the state and the Union Cause.
You have been correctly informed that "I am friendly to you."
I have not made any promise to any person and think I shall not.
But when the time comes I hope I may be able to act rightly and to the satisfaction of my friends.
I do not fear any estrangement from you in consequence of my action in that matter
Respectfully your friend
H. Noble
P.S. You did not say if a Brevet commission could be obtained for Col Laughlin of the 94th Ill Infr
Jack -- See as to getting the former letter on the subject of this Brevet
