Honrable sir i have taken the liberty to adress a few lines to you in a time of distress with me i live in henderson Co,, Ills i had a wife and three children there they hav Recentley Been distressed with sickness and my second child died a few days Back and my wife is now laying sick and my presance is very mutch needed at home for a few days and i have Beged and plead with my Capton and it seems to me that officers dont care who is in distress as long as their famleys is well they dont sea any need of any Body


going home But i have noticed that as soon as an officers famley is anything wrong with them they go home imediatley But a poor privits famley may all lay and di and it makes no diferants honrable sir you have no knowledg how a privit soldier has to liv if you Can do any thing to asist me to get leave of absance for a short time to sea My famley and comfhort them in their aflictions you will meet with the Blessing of hy heaven if you never meet with any Recompence from me i hav Been in the service nearley one year
