Hon. Richard Yates
Dear Sir
The loyal citizens of this place have already met twice for the purpose of forming a military organization At the last meeting which was held last evening I was appointed a committee to confer with the Governor in order to ascertain if it will be possible to secure arms from the state - Judging from the numbers present and the spirit manifested I think there will be no difficulty in forming a company, if we can get arms. Twenty eight (28)
put down their names last evening
We refer you to
Hon E.B. Washburne
Judge Platt of Warren
Richard Seal or}
John [Lorrain?]} of Galena
May we hear from you immediately as we meet again on Saturday of this week
Yours very Respectfully
