Mr Govenor yate's, Sir we imbrace the present oppertunity To inform you of our Situation at the present time we are unabel for duty and will be for Some time if ever I Robert S. Chambers have had the dropsey for 15 month's James Crawford has a bad wound in the hand from a Shell we was sent from Jefferson ville hospital to quincy illinois or marked for that place we was sent To caro and from Some CauSe we was Sent to mound city it cirtainley is not healthey here we are not doing well here we think if we Could get further North whare it is Cooler we would do better we Respectfuley ask you to transfer us to Chachigo or Springfield for this is a hard place for a Sick man Crawford will lose his hand without aSudent change as we are not abel for duty and will not be for some time we would like to be whare it is Cooler and healtheyer util we get abel for duty we have not got our (diserifribe?) Rolls with us we are verry Needey for Clothing and shoe, but Can not draw any here without our (diserifi?) Rolls there is men here that Say they have had nothing but drawer's for seven months.
