Alow a soldier to ask a small favor at your hand. it is this. since my family has bin sick for the last two months I was at new Albany I red when they was taken sick Their I asked for a leav of absence and The reply was that I would be transferred in a few days and why I appeal to you is this that I was wounded at Chickamaga and have not bin well for field duty since and consequently I think as I have to remain in hospital I would take it as a great favor of you sir to have me transfered to keakuk I am a (illegible) my famely now resids and I will Say also That I reported To my Co for duty the 12th of May last and was rejected and sent back and now sir Let me earnestly insist upon your having me sent imegitly to my family I am purfectly wiling to due a duty that I Can due and if you can - let me have the privlidge
of living with my family while they are Sick Sir if I was able for the frunt I would have not approach you in a maner like this but as such is not the case I feel my self at perfect liberty to ask So and seem sir as I cant fight in the ranks I ask a chanc to due my part at the (illegible) has this fall and thair is a no of others hear in the same condition I will mention John Sparky of the 101st Ills now sir hoping the to be excepted of you for all it is worth. Was wounded at Chickamauga, was in Hospital at New Albany. Afterward transferred to Mound City. His family reside at Keokuk and are at prest all sick. He wants to be transferred to that place so that he can be with them.
