Dr Sir,
It often very much interferes with the arrangements of the officers & men who have got up a Regt. to appoint a stranger who has not participated in it.
Therefore please see Col. Ingersole and see whether Mr. Kings appointment would give satisfaction- You can say to Col I. that I would like to commission Mr. King if it does not interfere with other arrangements
