Hon Rich'd Yates:
My Dear Friend
I leave to-day for Maryland on business. I am out of the Beacon office and consequently out of employment. I should be very much obliged to you if you would get me a position that would pay. Please write to me at Hopewell X Roads, Harford Co. Md. and inform me if you think it best for me to come to Washington at once. You will place me under lasting obligations if you will act my friend in this matter. Mr. Bromwell will unite his efforts with yours if desired.
