Infantry and has been employed I think most of the time in the mail service and now desires a position in that comtry[sp] His Father is an old friend that will do whatever I require and my opinion is that if you will write a good strong letter for the son,he will get an appointment that will be satisfactory to the Father and Son and will not interfere with Senator Yates or Wm.L.C. [?]
Please ask Mr. Denmson if he cannot give him the Position of P M at Goldsboro to assign to some good point Yours Truly
