Assumption, Ill, Augt. 16th 1862
Hon. Richard Yates
Jacksonville, Ill
Dear Sir,
Your favor of 12 inst is duly recd. I hast to reply to the request made [therein?]. by stating that it will give me pleasure to attend to the same as soon, and in as ample a manner as I can. My acquaintance however in the N. + W. parts of our county is rather limited and I could not furnish a very full or perfect list of the prominent union men in those portions of the county above named with their post office address until I obtain the necessary information, which will consume several days. If however you have no persons in those parts of the county to furnish you the lists desired, I will at once take the necessary steps to furnish as complete a list as possible, and as quick as possible.
I will at once proceed to make a list so far as my acquaintance extends, + forward to you in a day or two say on Saturday next, at for the rest.
It will give me pleasure at any time to [render?] any services I may be able or capable of doing for the good of union and Liberty.
Very Truly Yours &c
