I embrace this method & opportunity of calling your attention to the proceedings of the [Whang?] {Dudles?] in this County with regard to the appointment of provost Marshal. They are and have bim trying to exibit to union men in this County & we [presume?] also to your honor that they are loyal & good union men for the purpose of laying a plan by which they may get a diseatful whang appointed, now we do not predict or advise as to what corse you will pursue in regard to matters but we meanly pray that you will give some attention so that we may get justice in the appointment of A good loyal man for we are in the majority in this City in the absince of our Solders & much depends in the future outside in the appointment of the office by order many Citizons, yours Respectfully J. Says the Democrats are making an effort to have one of their own men appointed Provost Marshall, they have a majority in that county for the union wish the Governor to see that they get a good man - and one that is loyal ______________________________________________________________
