Govr. Yates,
Dear Sir - I was in your city about one week attending Synod, and hoped to see you - I have a friend here, who would like to get a situation in the army. It is Frank H. Gilmore who has been publishing a democratic paper here for some years, and has done us great service for the Union in this our Country's trial. He has a brother 1st Lt. in Co H. 9th Regt, now at Paducah. If you could give him a situation that would pay him equal to Capt or 1st Lt. it would a favor never to be forgotten by me. He is poor and is related to me by marriage. He has a good business head and very energetic. A situation in the Qr. Master Dept. or Adjt would suit him. His efforts in our County, in his paper, contributed much to allay the Southern feeling of the democracy in our County at the Commencement of the rebellion. Let me hear from you.
Your friend
