No. 48 Clark Street.
Chicago, Ill, Decr 2nd 1864.
Dear Governor,
I shall send you by Express tomorrow 100 copies R R. Gazette containing two articles from my pen, one on yourself and one on Song John. I wish the first was worthier of the subject. The latter was as mean as I could possibly make it in the limited times now at my command. I regret that I am going to leave Illinois before the senatorial election as if my services could do you any good I should be at your command. I have no doubt of your success yet I know that no efforts should be relaxed through self confidence.
I have no doubt that the people are emphatically in your favor.
Very sincerely,
Your friend
Sol M. Willson
