Gov Yates
Dear Sir
Yours of the 30th [illegible] was duly recd. I have delayed answering for a few days hoping to see Mr. Dresser, who lives some 10 miles from here, in the country. His Post Office address is Cotton Wood Grove. You need have no delicacy in writing him, if it were necessary. Indeed I think he would feel flattered on your doing so. I am quite certain he is " all Right on the question of Senator. In fact, it is so generally conceded here that you are to be our next Senator, that the matter is little talked of. Mr. Dresser is a personal friend and acquaintance of mine. And I will Endeavor to see him soon. And will see that he is "fully posted" - Should he be otherwise than in favour of you I will write you again.
Remember me to my old friend "Uncle Jim K"
Very truly and Respectfully Yours
