My Dear Govr
Yours of the 27th Inst. just received. I will try and be on hand the first of next week. I have secured the member from this place H. D. Cook for you, at least he has promised me that he would vote for you for Senator
I have been doing all I could do for you since and before the election.
Bross of the Tribune ought to be Kicked for the course he has pursued with his paper since the election. I was aware of the fact when Bross was nominated that an effort would be made to elect Oglesby Senator thereby making Bross Governor. I lived in Chicago at the time. Trusting that you will be triumphantly elected, I am your obedient Servant
John T. Harper.
