Description
Monticello Female Seminary students and faculty pose outside the East Chapel Gable on the day of the laying of the capstone during new construction on the Monticello Female Seminary chapel. A fire destroyed the school's original buildings on November 4, 1888. While a temporary building was promptly erected to house the students, the new construction was not completed until June 10, 1890.
An article detailing the first anniversary of the Monticello Seminary fire is attached to the verso.
