Description
Monticello Female Seminary faculty and students pose outside the school's chapel for the laying of the capstone during reconstruction. A fire destroyed the school's original buildings on November 4, 1888. While a temporary building was promptly erected to house the students, the new construction was not completed until June 10, 1890.
The students, faculty, and construction workers are identified on the image's verso.
