Gov. R. Yates

Dear Sir.

I herewith enclose a letter given me by Gen'l Logan,which should have been forwarded to you with the letters I sent some days ago. I have been very sick with dysentery, and am now at home for a few days on surgeons certificate. As soon as I am able will go to Springfield to see you. In the mean time, if convenient, I would like to hear from you as to the prospects of me getting the Colonelcy of a new Reg't.
