My dear Edwin
Yours of the [16?]th I have just received. I had been expecting a letter from you for two weeks---and wondered at your silence I bought sevral papers and saw you were doing good business,so felt satisfied you were well. I was very glad to hear from you and hope every thing will go on smoothly now. I expect John home some day this week, he tells me he has done well
the last week in Bostons was very good. Clarke took us last night to the New Theatre, saw Forrest play the Broker of Bogota, the House is very neat & plain---and was crowded. I think you would like to act in it, if you saw it. Clarke has just finished in Baltimore & goes to Washington next week. his House was entirely destroyed---& very little Insurance [on it?]. I am glad Mary is better. Rosalie answered her letter to Dorchester post office. she would have been much
pleased to have accepted her invitation---if I could have spared her---but could not just now. write again soon, you see you have spoiled me by constant writing, so when I dont hear from you for a long time, I get low spirited. I hope you will get through all your difficulty with the Managers---and be careful in making your next Engagements. its going to be bad weather again its snowing very fast. give my love to Mary & baby when you write God bless you ever your affectionate Mother M A Booth
[written vertically on back of page] I finished my last to the Winter Garden. I see by the Envelope you are at the Lafarge House - ,
