Description
James Shrigley wishes to be renominated as hospital chaplain and asks Preston King to put in a good word for him with President Lincoln. King writes an endoresement to Shrigley's letter stating that the Rev. Thomas A. Sawyer supports the applicant's renomination. Shrigley's letter is forwarded to Lincoln who writes four lines in pencil on a small envelope addressed to him as president stating: "James Shrigley wants to be re-nominated a hospital chaplain."
