Dear Sir

I wish you if you please to write to me

and inform me - as to whether you have in any

of your offices the Records of the Service of

Your Troops in Black Hawk War - and if so

how many companies? - and what would be the

cost of a certificate in any named case -

I have a claim for Bounty Land for the Service

of a man by name of

Fonrose Frost

but his widow can tell no particulars of his services

- further than that - as she thinks - he entered

into the Service in Illinois

Please answer in enclosed envelope

Not knowing what officer to addrefs - I send this to the

Governor who will please send to proper office
