Title
Statement by White House doorman Thomas F. Pendel
Description
Thomas F. Pendel furnishes a sketch of his life and service since 1864 as White House doorman. Pendel notes that he stood at the door when he let Lincoln and, years later, Garfield out of the White House on the days of their assassinations. The letter is accompanied by a photograph of Pendel. It, too, is part of the Taper Collection.
