Hon Richard Yates,

Springfield Ills.

Dear Sir

I see that Ward H. Lamon Esqr. the prosecuting Attorney for this circuit, is about to receive an appointment from Mr Lincoln. In that event there will be a vacancy which you will have to fill.

If consistent with your feelings I should like to receive that appointment, should such appointment have to be made and you may consider me an applicant therefor. The circuit is now reduced to three counties the remuneration will be from one thousand to fifteen hundred dollars a year which will be of considerable service to me at the present time. and in other respects would suit me, without interfereing with my other business.

Hoping that this may meet with your views, and receive your favorable consideration. I remain very Truly

Your friend

Wm. H. Young
