Dear Yates

I wrote you some two weeks since but have recd no answer yet A K. Johnson has got home I proposed to him what I wrote you in relation to the Bonds at Butters provided it met your approval he is very anxious to go in with us but refused at first to come out in the Index the way I wished him to do untill I got an answer from you but I finally got him to come out that he would receive the June Coupons for Taxes which will boust the Bonds so we can sell them without some such an arrangement I am satisfied that we would have had a hard time as I am certain the Inst

would not have been promtly paid the truth is the Co. Court would act mean over them if possible in order to shave them up they have a small sinking fund for that purpose Johnson & the Court had a spat about the Bonds yesterday he says they are heading Cash Taxpayers & putting Co. orders in their hands &c &c I hope to heare form you soon on this subject especially on Johnsons account.

the people generally here are well pleased with Lincolns Inaugeral especially the Democrats Why does not Lincoln sent Secret Agents in the South to warm up the union men & dissiminate the Truth there if the people of the South knew his real views they would stand by him & the union I am very anxious to see you I remain yours truly
