Dear Governor:

Some of the companies composing the 15th Ill Cav. have been mustered out, while the remainder have several years to serve. A number of the soldiers mustered out, are willing to re-enlist, if authority can be obtained to re-cruit a company of Cavalry for said Regiment. I think there are enough to make one Company with others who will join. Will you please to inform me immediately whether you can grant the authority. Very truly yours
