Governor Yates Sir

I take this opportunity to inform you that we would like very much to be transferred to our State There are several of us here from the 39 Illinois Regt who were wounded while under Gen. Butler near Richmond.

There has been Orders received here from most of the Northern States for their men to be transfered each to his own State But not one word from Illinois

I remain your true soldier
