My Dear Friend
The bearer of this, Lieut Kuhn has been mustered out of Service - he has Served his three years - the last one of which was under Brigr Genl Dennis as his A. A. Genl - Lieut K is one of the most gallent and useful young officers in the Service - I have been with the Army a good [illegible] since I left it & know the value of such men. Genl Dennis has been a good & faithful officer & has never troubled the President & Secretary of War about anything heretofore & he does hope & feels that this request of his to retain Capt K will be accomplished with-it will be a faver to the Genl & Secure to the Armey a most useful officer - I do hope you will take an interest
in Capt Kuhn & more than oblige many of your best friends,
