Alton. Ill. Oct. 21st 1864.

Hon. Richard Yates. Springfield, Ill.

Dear Sir.

I notice with pleasure an appointment of yours to speak in our City on the 4th proximo.

It would give my wife & me much gratification if you would make our humble mansion your stopping place while in our city.

This will be in accordance with your remarks on the subject to Mrs. B. some weeks since.

Will you do us the favor to signify in advance by which train you will reach our City that we may meet you at the Depot?

I am, Governor,

Most Respectfully &c

A. J. Burbank
