Substitute Camp.
Camp Butler Illinois
Oct 21st 1864
Gov Yates
Dear Sir
I as a Loyal Drafted man feel Bound to say to you that we are crowded up here some 2,000 drafted men and substitutes to gather in these miserable Barracks without any accomedations. No regular meals and not even the privilege of buying eatables from those that would sell them to us. I am not disposed to complain, but if this state of things cannot be remedied it does seem to me that some of us should be shipped from here as
soon as possible.
It seems to me that the drafted men and substitutes should be separated. Please answer, Respy yours
