Col Simon Hirshbach A. D. C & Private Secy Executive Dept. City
Dear Colonel
I have a letter from Mrs Swanwick, a noble Sanitary Lady of Sparta, in which she informs me that she has sent a letter to Governor Yates, with a draft of an address to be signed by him and she requests me to examine it and make certain alterations in it, which she suggests, before it goes to the Public. Will you do me the favor to send it over to me if at you disposal? I will return it safely & at a very early date. I know the Governor is un usually engaged with important business just now. hence my application to you.
Very truly your friend and Obt Sevant Johns R. Woods Col. & Secy. Ills. San. Com
