There are a great many Ill soldiers at this place, both in the 5th & 17th V.R.C. who are very anxious to assist the Union cause in our own state at the coming election & deeming it very important that all the Union strength of the state should be [manifested?] at the Polls would ask, wheather some influence cannot be brought to bear upon the "Powers that Be" to bring about the desired result. If you can & will assist in this respect, you will receive the hearty thanks of many soldiers.
