I think I have secured the Bond member through Lt. Col. (formerly Maj.) Reid The game is getting interesting I just recd a Mt Vernon Unionist with article marked in favor of my old fellow soldier and now fellow complexioner Johny A. I enclose it - Write to Col Tom. G. Allen, Chester if you have not done so.

You'll beat them beat the whole field -

It is amusing to hear Copperheads W. H. N ex Senator for instance and some honest

men too taking trouble to themselves and taking on over your drinking.

I am glad you have quit I have and did so because I intended to ask you to do so. and had to go into court with clean hands, and this too after a life time of habitual indulgence - mostly moderate, often the [reverse?] and the habit is hard - awfully hard to break - I am doing it however -

It must be done

If there are any members down here whose position is doubtful let me know
