To The Hon Richard Yates
Dear Friend
I make free to address you a few lines and to get some information from you in regard to getting a beloved Daughter home from Texas the circumstances is this She went out there with her Husband four years ago his name is W.A. Patten and he was a Union man but I dont know but he may be in the rebel army as I have understood that they have a great many whom they have forced into there army against there will and there was a man and a prisoner at Camp Douglas by that name died last week we don't know wether it is him or not as he has moved about considerable since he went out there he first went to the north west part of the State and bought land there they had to leave there on account of the out break of the Indians about two years ago and the last letters they were in Dallias County now my request is to know of you what chance will be to get her home if she can through your Influence be brought to any point where our Union troops are so as I can reach Her as it would relive the mind of your sincere Friend to get her away from amongst rebels home to Her parents and Friends I need not mention the strong ties that binds Parents to there Children as you know how dear they are to you and every parent does if you will be kind enough to write me what can be done in this matter and I will write you and give you the decrsption of them both if needed and all the information I can
