Dear Sir

this is the second time that I have presumed to write to you on this subject and it being some time ago since I wrote, I feared you had not received the first I have to tell you that my husband is in the army and is not fit for service and I sincerely believe that he never will be, he has been in the army about seven months and the last three months he has been sick. now dear sir the only hopes I have of ever seeing him again is in asking you to aid me in this cause please do not refuse to lend a helping hand to a poor sick Soldier who if he does get home alive will always thank you my husbands name is Henry Slater and he in Hamiltons Corps Grants department Quimbys Division Boomers Brigade Col Putmans 93 Regt of Illinois the Captin is A F Knight Co F
