Col. Mitchael informed me that a surgeon would be appointed for the troop to be stationed at Mattoon. if this is so and it meets your approbation I would like the appointment

I was compelled to resign my position as surgeon of the 123rd Regt on account of ill health. Have since been solicited to accept the position as surgeon in other Regts but do not feel able for the duties and exposures of the field

Please inform if possible and Oblige
