with W.D. Wyatt letter 12/8/64
Springfield Dec. 8'/64
Gov Yates -
Dear Sir - I regret not being able to see you while here, but must deny myself that desired privilege - on account of your (illegible) position which I hope is not serious _
I am anxious about the promotion of Capt. Pegram - He is worthy and efficent and withal well qualified for the
position sought; and you know his father; well, and that you never had a better friend than Wm B. Pegram - anywhere - The old gentleman is anxious about the matter; and I very much hope to see the promotion made -
I desire if it not taxing your time and patience too much that you let me hear from you soon
Yours & W. D. Wyatt
P.S. I find every gentle man here with (illegible) I have spoken in relation to the Matter, (and I have talked with many men in the city from different parts of the state) is for you and says that the people everywhere are for you for U S. S- I know you are safe and think when the time comes you will have no opposition in the caucus - W D W
