Hon Richard Yates
Dear Sir:- It has been a long time since I have seen or heard from you. I would be delighted to see you and talk over old matters. But this is a pleasure it seems we can not enjoy at this time I am now about to ask a favor at your namely I'm looking over my own list of acquaintances I know of no one that I can approach with more confidence upon this subject than yourself. I want you to do me the kindness to use your influence in trying to get a few of my friends who are now prisoners of war pardoned The friends spoken of are these Capt E [Pery?] 16th Va Cavalry Jo [Jenson?] [illegible] Leut Col A M Davis 45 Va Regmt Infantry some place Grayson County Virginia Capt Frank W [Relley?] 50th Va Regm int Infantry Fort Pularka Georgia [MLieut?]John J Sayirz] Co A 4th Va Regmt Infantry [Johnson Irland Lenaz?] Lieutenant Vaughan Co D 4th Va Regmt same place Do this for me and I pledge myself to have a like number of officers paroled for you and shall regard the same as a great personal kindness Respectfully yours A McMullins
