My dear Governor
Some time since as you know the Prest sent Col Stokes name to the Senate for confirmation and as I am informed that Hon body on the 20th Feby confirmed that nomination. Now since that time I have been waiting to see the commission or some order on the subject and as the girl said when in trouble I want to see it. Now I do wish you would go or send up to the proper office and get or have got that commission and the orders. If I was
a politician I might know where to go to. (I believe the place is Adjt Genl Townsend office) not knowing about such matters I can not say for certain but one thing I can certify to. I want to see that commission and the orders accompanying it. And if you want to bind me to follow the little dutchmans nomination please let me out of this trouble.
[Mack?] is here working everything looks well
Yours in haste
