New Albany 30 July 1865 To Hon Richard Yates Dear Sir If thare is ay points you wish in the South you can site to me at New Albany Care of C. M. Applegate he will forward it to me and I will be sur to get it, I leave in the morning for Alabama. I am vary anxious to see you. I have ben aggitating the Peoples mind when I have ben in the East about you being the next President. I find a grate many in favor of it one was the editor of the Philadelphia Newes. If your friends in the west will do thare parts and work in the rite
places and in the rite time - your prospects ar vary flattering and I for one entend to work I have the hole program laid down and this winter at Washington the hole matter must be fixed for a regular fight in convintion the first thing to do is to change the U.S. congressional Commite and get it in the hands of your friends and our State Centeral Commite must be your friend at least a majority, I will be through in Alabama by November I could com to see you amost any time if I knew when you would be in Jacksonville I am at New Albany every weak or two my wife is thare Your Respectfully R.
