His Excellency- Gov. Yates,
Dear Sir,
A. B. Barrett, Post Master here,informs us that he has submitted to your Honor a place for raising a Regt of Men, under the Presidents late call - and that he aspires to a Regimental Office therein- We have known Mr Barrett for many years - and take pleasure in recommending him as possessing energy of purpose - a good moral character - fair business qualifications - undoubted Loyalty and a large share of public confidence, and in our opinion worthy the position he seeks =
