Sir:
Miles Spain of the 12th Regt Ills Inf'y is in hospital at Jeffersonville. He is not yet 18 years of age and, as I am informed, unfit for further duty. His father is also in the army and the mother with five children in very destitute circumstances. Please have him examined as soon as possible and discharged if found a fit subject.
