Dear Sir-

Yours of the 15th inst. stating your efforts made in behalf of the exchange of my husband, Major E. S. Bates 80th Ill Vols, is received.

Allow me to express my sincere thanks for your kindness and the prompt action, taken in this matter, also my husband's who reached home the 12th having recently been exchanged.

He is in very feeble health and thinks he will not be able

to take the field in sometime. I think he will never be able to take the field again.
