Waukegan Lake Co Ill

Dear Sir
Mr Slusser of Hainesville has received your letter and it is highly satisfactory. We have presumed that Ferry will do all in his power to prejudice your mind against me. You will probably hear something concerning him from leading men in this county.
He has been offering to leading Democrats, that in case I was nominated, to go into convention with them and bring out a candidate against me, such a candidate of course would be against you. I submit to you whether this looks like his being for you I am greatly obliged to you for your many favors of late. Everything is going well
Yours Respectfully
E M Haines
Gov. Yates
Haines, E. M.
Waukegan Ills.

States that Mr Slusser had received the Governors letter and it was very satisfactory. He thinks Ferny is striving to defeat him and that in case of his nomination will unite with the Democratic candidate & hence work against the Governor.
