Dear Sir,
We have just held a county convention, to appoint Delegates to our Congressional Convention, In the caucus in this town, the faction to which Ferry has attached himself, made a direct issue between themselves & me, and we beat them 3 to one. This shows you how we stand in this town, the county convention was almost unanimously in our favor; and as an indorsement of myself. I was chosen chairman of the convention, which was largely attended, I will send you printed proceedings as soon as published.
Evry township but one gave pledges to my friends for renomination at our county convention, which will be held in about four weeks, What I have written your concerning Ferry I desire you to consider confidential, when I see you I will tell you more Gov. Yates Yours Truly
